This is what I get when I try to download from some servers... ( in this example)

200 Type set to I
SIZE macvcdx.sit.hqx

350 Restarting at 0. Send STORE or RETRIEVE to initiate transfer.
RETR macvcdx.sit.hqx

then nothing happens. After a while it says waiting...

Hello Calle Kabo,
It seems that you've tried to download from FTP servers using the ACTIVE mode of downloading. Often this downloading can be stopped from a firewall or proxy, so we recommend you to set up your FTP configuration to PASSIVE mode of downloading.
You can do that from the iGetter Proxy preferences pushing the 'Proxy settings' button. In the Network control panel show the appropriate Internet interface and choose the 'Proxies' tab. Now check the 'Use passive FTP mode (PASV)' option.
